Online Artist-led Workshop: Banners of Empowerment

We’re bringing historic preservationist and educator Sarah Marsom back to Columbus (virtually) for an online Artist-led Workshop: Banners of Empowerment.

With the importance of 2020 as a presidential election year, and in the face of new changes and challenges this year has brought to the world, Sarah has developed this new workshop for making personal, inspirational banners. She will introduce the historical importance and imagery of banners, and lead participants in telling their own stories and crafting banners of personal significance and empowerment.

Because access to craft supplies may be limited, this workshop also emphasizes ingenuity and creativity in using materials found at home.

While some participants may be able to order craft supplies or pick them up on a trip for essential goods, we want to emphasize the importance of staying healthy and staying creative – using limited supplies to create something meaningful, an inspiration in a time full of questions. We hope you can join us in utilizing the paper, scissors, pencils – and maybe thread, fabric and buttons – at home as materials for your own empowering banner.

Following registration on Eventbrite, CAAC will send you more information and instructions to join the video chat workshop.

Artist-led Workshops are made possible by a grant from the Efroymson Family Fund, a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation.
